Vilcabamba Real Estate Company – Ecuador – www.vrec.org – 19th March 2010 – Latest email update to VREC’s mailing list.

Hello everybody!

2010 is shaping up to be an interesting year. Every day I receive more emails from folks all over the world who are disaffected with their current reality, and who are consequently seeking the sort of simpler alternative and lifestyle many of us have found here in the Vilcabamba region. It is astounding how folks open their hearts in these emails, and describe to me what things have led to their seeking a new path. A friend of mine put it well the other day. “Back to basics” was his expression. It is so easy in the developed world to get utterly caught up (without even knowing it) in a pace of life that is not only hectic and cluttered … it is unsustainable and unsatisfying both spiritually and mentally. To watch the people who have come to this part of the world and re-invented themselves in a more natural environment is truly inspiring! Here is a great article from my friend Jeff Hutner’s New Paradigm Digest website which shows some of what is possible for new arrivals here in the Vilca region. If you are not yet familiar with my friend Mike Adams’ Natural News website, you should check it out and see why he decided to exit the States and make Vilcabamba his new home. In short, if you are a creative, positive person with skill-sets, right intention and good energy to offer, there will undoubtedly be a place in the Vilcabamba region for you.

Anyway, onto the reason for today’s email … we have quite a bit to get through.

EcoVenus

First and foremost I wanted to mention the EcoVenus development, which sits astride the ridge dividing Vilcabamba from Malacatos, and has sweeping views across the beautiful Malacatos valley. There are 10 lots available in the vicinity of the owner’s geodesic dome. As well as an additional 4 or 5 “secluded” lots within the property on the opposite side of the valley. The entire property is 7 hectares and has walking paths, many fruit trees, a huge variety of flora and fauna, and is simply a beautiful place to live. In time the people who move here will collectively decide on the “flavour” of the community, but it is anticipated that potentially a healing centre incorporating the complementary skill-sets of residents (and/or neighbours) can flourish over time. Given the owners already run a successful stem-cell therapy lab on site, and cater to clients far and wide, who knows what else may be possible when other skilled folks arrive to contribute? Anyone interested in finding out more about EcoVenus should firstly check out the website for details, prices etc, and then contact me via this email address with any other queries. A panoramic shot of the EcoVenus landscape is below.

PP007 – Linderos

Another reminder that a long-term couple here in the Vilcabamba valley have decided to sell sections of a large valley they own, at a price-point which makes the transition to Vilcabamba as affordable as possible for many newcomers. Buy an acre for $20,000, or a hectare (2.47 acres) for $40,000. All lots come with basic services (power & water) installed. Visit the VREC website, click on Properties, and then Platinum Properties for more information. This property was also featured by International Living at their Ultimate Event last month in Quito (read their description on the PP007 webpage).

YF002 – 12 hectares of rolling green fields, a house, a storage and animal-feed facility, two rivers and a “soak” (natural water coming up through the ground).

This property is gorgeous. Bordered on two sides by natural water, and with significant cultivable areas, this property presents a tempting opportunity for someone who has larger-scale farming endeavours in mind. A simple, livable house with services connected is already on the property along with another structure which currently serves as a storage area and animal feed facility. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Vilcabamba centre and is asphalt all the way. For someone who wants to move in, build a homestead and get farming operations underway, this property is ideal, not to mention well-priced.

VL012 – Approx 800m2 lot in San Jose for only $10,000.

This is a bargain “lot with the lot” which could have a cute little house built on it very easily. It has access from two directions via a lockable private road (to which only the residents have the key), and is tucked away off the primary San Jose road, so traffic noise and town noise is zero. Would suit someone on a budget aiming to live close to Vilca without being smack bang in the middle of town. It is an easy 15 minute walk to the town centre.

MT003 – A straightforward hectare of eminently cultivable land in Malacatos. Suit someone who wishes to build a home and farm the land.

VT023 – 2 hectares of river-front land for $60,000.

This property is a rarity in the region in that almost all the land is useable/cultivable. With absolute river-frontage as well as canal access, water will not be a problem. Additionally, it would be relatively easy to drill a well if desired. The access road is soon to be all asphalt (major infrastructure project underway) which will further increase the value of this property as time goes by. The land already has mature sugar cane, cacao, mangoes, zapote (if you don’t know what this is yet you will be in shock at how good this fruit is!), mandarins and avocadoes.

VQ023 – One lot with a house and also a neighbouring lot available in Vilcabamba’s premier Hacienda San Joaquin gated-community.

Lot 25: 2,341m2 & Lot 16: 1,877m2. Quinta within the luxury Hacienda San Joaquin gated community … Lot 25 is available with or without Lot 16. Lot 16 is not available separately. Lot 25 is the larger of these two lots, and comes complete with a 2 bedroom fully appointed luxury home (see floorplan in this listing). The homes in Hacienda San Joaquin are at the top end of what is possible with construction in Ecuador, and attention to detail and aesthetics by the developer/designer Joe Simonetta is the hallmark of these properties. With sweeping verandas, bay windows, and views of the Andes around you, it really is like living outside, inside! For anyone interested in the extra potential which Lot 16 affords the overall purchase, it too is available and the two can then be utilized as one property. In this way, a main house could be built on Lot 16, and the existing house could then become the guest-house. Your options are limited only by your imagination. For the buyer who is interested in a turnkey lifestyle change into Vilcabamba’s premier gated-community this purchase is hard to ignore.

YT009 – 6 hectares with building areas.

6 hectares of partly mountainous land … suit anyone who wants to ensure their privacy as well as perhaps having plenty of room for animals to roam about.

ST005 – One hectare on top of the world!

This property is for anyone who likes their privacy and wants to be up there with the eagles! A more pristine hectare would be difficult to find, but you will need to make a bit of effort re putting in the final road access “hop” and getting building materials to the site per-se, depending upon how complex a structure is desired. Incredible views, stillness, tranquility and majestic natural beauty will be amongst the rewards you will reap once having made your home on this awesome site.

Revision of Property Data – SQ002 is now available for $110,000 (as a result of the piece being smaller than previously thought … about a half hectare ).

This property is more or less turn-key. New owners will probably want to tweak it superficially only. It has 4 bedrooms, power and municipal water, and has a canal bordering the property. It is extremely secluded and picturesque, but only 6 kms from Vilca centre. The size of this piece allows for much extra building or landscape gardening (orchards, permaculture, etc) if desired and the only thing separating you from the river is the road which accesses the property. In short, the perfect blend of seclusion, tranquility and proximity to Vilcabamba.

VQ014 – Reminder – Price reduction from $110,000 to $85,000 EXPIRES at the end of this month (March 2010). Get in quick if you want this property.

This is another remarkably-situated piece of land for its size and price. At one hectare and all of it flat with river frontage, this property lends itself to expansion, and has a functional 2 bedroom house which is ready to move into. This piece would be IDEAL for someone who wants to move into their new secluded and pristine hobby-farm with all the hard work already done! The mature plantation includes 5 types of bananas, oranges (both sweet and sour), sweet lemons, lemons, papaya, cacao, coffee, avocadoes, mangoes, guava, and passion-fruit! Smoothies anyone?! Another prime piece of Vilcabamba real-estate at a realistic asking price. Available EXCLUSIVELY through VREC Properties.

Anyway, that’s about it for this update. We hope you are enjoying the updates provided by the Vilcabamba Real Estate Company. As ever, we are doing our best to keep all you folks out there as informed as possible re the types of lands coming available, as well as giving a little insight into the flavour of the area. We look forward to helping you if we can.

Best wishes,

      Hi Dave
Unfortunately we don’t really have anything in that budget in this region.
Supply and demand in this region has pushed prices to around $20K or more for a good acre (4,000m2) of land.
I have sent you our questionnaire and other useful information … if you are still interested after reading through that, please contact me directly via email.
      Kind regards,
      Nick Vasey
